Jordan Spieth Warned He’s Not Out of the Woods Yet, Despite Confirming Date & Venue of PGA Tour Comeback

What could have been, and what has happened to the career of Jordan Spieth? Once touted to be the next GOAT after Tiger Woods, Spieth was on track to achieve greatness. The Dallas local had matched records only Jack Nicklaus had previously achieved. He became the second golfer in history to win 3 majors before his 24th birthday. Spieth was also mentored by Nicklaus and Woods during that period, and the latter was ready to pass on the torch. However, one injury ruined the entire journey for Jordan Spieth, as his troublesome wrist became the villain of his story.

The 31-year-old first injured his wrist in 2017. He was never the same once he returned from rehabilitation, as his form dropped immeasurably. The man who won 11 titles in the first 6 years of his PGA Tour career has only managed 2 trophies since. However, things have finally turned around for him as he recently revealed that he is pain-free. This is the first time Spieth has said that since he procured his initial wrist injury.

But all is not well in the Jordan Spieth camp, as insiders have raised concerns about his form. The Golf Channel YouTube account shared a podcast hosted by Rex & Lav as they discussed Jordan Spieth’s recovery a few days ago. During the conversation, Lav shared that Jordan Spieth has announced his return to competition at the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament. Rex pointed out how he liked the fact that Spieth referred to his return as a “reset.” This suggested that he was getting back to the best version of himself.

They discussed how Spieth had been troubled with the severity of the injury in 2024. But Rev was happy to learn that the 3x PGA Tour winner “has been pain-free now for a couple of weeks.” This suggests that he has made a full recovery. However, the host mentioned that he was concerned about Spieth not being in form for many years. Rev mentions how the 31-year-old is a “generational player,” but history doesn’t favor his comeback. The host showed concern about Spieth as he mentioned how other greats have never been able to find back their form after such injuries.

Rev does raise some great points about Jordan Spieth’s comeback. But fans are still hopeful that they will get to see the best of him again. Having said that, let’s see how Jordan Spieth has performed even when he was injured.

Jordan Spieth’s form during injuries
It has been nearly 8 years since Jordan Spieth injured his wrist for the first time. It is a fact that he only has 2 titles to show in that period. However, his overall statistics in the 8 years paint a slightly different picture. Since 2018, Jordan Spieth has been in the top 10 of the leaderboard 37 times. This includes 2 wins and 5 runner-ups. What’s even more interesting is that 6 of these top 10 finishes were in majors.

Based on the database available, it would seem that Jordan Spieth has still come close to winning. However, his injuries have prevented him from finishing efficiently. Maybe if fans see him putting well and sinking vital birdies at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am event, then they can expect him to be back to his best. The tournament is still a couple of weeks away from today.
