Months After Rafael Nadal’s Real Madrid Interest, Carlos Alcaraz’s Cheeky Comment Will Leave Fans Excited

Rafael Nadal and Real Madrid’s relationship goes a long way. The Spaniard has been a boyhood fan of the iconic club. Nadal’s family was also a big fan of the club and eventually, it rubbed off on Nadal. Further, the 22-time Grand Slam champion has also been seen attending the club’s games on many occasions. With Nadal calling time on his illustrious career last month, rumors erupted about him being the next President of Los Blancos with Carlos Alcaraz joining the team. While this is a far-fetched shot, will this ever happen?

Nadal shares a good relationship with the current President of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez. While the Spaniard refused to compete against Perez for the spot, the former World Number 1 didn’t shy away from expressing his wish to become the President of the iconic club one day. He revealed, “If you ask me if I would be excited if I became the president of Real Madrid, of course, the answer is yes. I would be happy, but it’s not in my life plans. If life puts me in that position and all the conditions are met, then I would. I am a big fan of Real Madrid.”

Further, Alcaraz also visited Real Madrid’s training camp earlier this week and looked around in fascination. Subsequently, Alcaraz was asked if he would like to join the team. Interestingly, the Spaniard nodded and revealed his wish to become a winger.

Interestingly, before Nadal took over tennis full-time, he also played soccer. “I was a good footballer, but as a tennis player, I was much more special. He [Nadal’s uncle, Toni] was very demanding and that was lucky for me.” The Spaniard retired after the Davis Cup Finals in his home country. Following his retirement, many renowned names wished him good luck for the life ahead. Among them was Real Madrid!

When Rafael Nadal received a heartfelt tribute

Nadal’s fellow athletes and other sporting giants paid heartfelt tributes to the Spaniard on an iconic journey. Similarly, the Real Madrid soccer club also wrote a wonderful message for the former World Number 1.

In a statement posted by the club, it said, “Following Rafa Nadal’s announcement that he will retire from tennis as a professional player after the Davis Cup that he will play with Spain in November 2024, Real Madrid CF, its president and its Board of Directors wish to show their admiration and affection for one of the greatest legends of Spanish and world sport of all time.”

Further, it also added, “For us and for all Real Madrid fans, it is and will always be a source of pride that a legend like Rafa Nadal represents our club as an honorary member of Real Madrid. Rafa Nadal is also a source of pride for our country and an example of the essential values of sport, which he has built upon throughout his extraordinary career.”
