2025 is already crucial for Emma Raducanu’s career

Emma Raducanu has had many injuries and physical problems this year too. The British player – who became very famous in the world by winning the US Open in 2021 when she was really young – has struggled a lot over the past two seasons and has struggled to cope with external pressure.

The current World No.55 has never found the right consistency on the tennis court and the frequent changes of coach have certainly not helped her to improve her game. Many fans and experts thought that 2024 would be the right year for its final consecration at very high levels, but it was not so.

Emma didn’t even reach a WTA final this year and – apart from the prestigious wins against two top ten contenders like Jessica Pegula and Maria Sakkari – her season was really disappointing. As if that were not enough, Raducanu was heavily criticized this summer for having given up just before playing the mixed doubles alongside ATP legend Andy Murray at Wimbledon (at his last participation in the Championships before retirement).

Too many injuries
The 2021 US Open champion was supposed to play the WTA in Hong Kong this week, but had to retire for yet another physical problem. “Hello, I’m sorry to say that I will not be able to play in Hong Kong next week. Whilst my foot is making good progress, I need a little more time before I am match fit. I hope to be able to come back and play this tournament in the future! In the meantime, I am doing what I can to be ready for BJKC” – Emma wrote on her social media.

The feeling is that Raducanu needs peace and stability to finally express his best tennis and unleash all the potential that was seen in New York three years ago. Emma Raducanu’s career has certainly been very special until now. A tennis player who won a Grand Slam title, the US Open a few years ago, but has so far been a single great feat, since then the tennis player has gained recognition at the level of sponsorship and marketing but has not achieved any results.

Finally Emma concluded: “When you get back on the track you need time to be at the level this sport requires. The matches are different from practice and it is necessary to have a good condition. I am grateful at this time to have a good health, for me that is the priority”.

2025 will be crucial for Emma
Fans hope that 2025 will be the decisive year for the rise of the British champion, who has the right personality to become a reference in the WTA tour. In the latest edition of the ‘Served with Andy Roddick’ podcast, WTA legend and former World No.1 Kim Clijsters opened up on Raducanu’s issues: “There’s two things that I think could be the reason… it’s either maybe not having the right people around you who kind of guide you and say, ‘Okay, this is important to you’, like the scheduling, building enough weeks off in between, like training blocks to improve, to mentally switch off.

Or is it her? Is there other things going on mentally where she’s kind of just had it with media, pressure… whatever it is. It’s only those two things that could be the cause. I don’t know enough about her, I don’t know her personally, I don’t know her team, I really don’t know much about that whole situation. I’m sorry, but if you have a team of coaches around you or whoever is in charge, there’s obviously some misguidance there.” The current World No.55 is still young and has plenty of time to find the right way.
