Emma Raducanu finally shares some positive news after very unfortunate injury
Emma Raducanu has officially confirmed that she will make her comeback from an injury next week in Hong Kong. In September, it was announced that the British tennis star would play at the WTA 250 tournament in Hong Kong. But after the 2021 US Open champion suffered an unfortunate ligament injury in Seoul in late September and withdrew from her last four scheduled tournaments, there were concerns that she would not play any tournaments in the remainder of the Asian swing.
But Raducanu herself laid those concerns to rest with a video message she recorded.
“Hello everyone, it’s Emma Raducanu here. I really cannot wait to come and play the Prudential Women’s Hong Kong Open. It’s my first time playing the WTA event there, but I was there in December last year and I really loved the city. So I’m very much looking forward to coming and I hope to see you all there in October,” the former world No. 10 said in a recorded message.

What happened to Raducanu?
Since the Briton’s mother has Chinese roots, the Asian region has a very special place in her heart and she has made it clear numerous times over the last few years.
When the Asian swing started, the 21-year-old very honestly admitted that she had this part of the season circled in her calendar and that she wanted to do well there. But after reaching the quarterfinal at the WTA 500 tournament in Seoul. Raducanu had to retire injured while 1-6 down to Daria Kasatkina because of an injury.
“Hello, last week in Seoul I sprained some ligaments in my foot which unfortunately need some more time to heal (sad emoji). It means I can’t play in Beijing but I hope to be back competing as soon as I can,” the British tennis star wrote on X on September 23rd.
For Raducanu, the hope is now that she can avoid any further injury setbacks in Hong Kong and finish her season on a positive note with a good result.
