Emma Raducanu Puts an End to Injury Woes, Announcing Her Comeback at Hong Kong After Missing Major Events

Emma Raducanu has faced some challenging times recently. The star player has failed to mark a regular presence on the courts and has witnessed multiple injuries throughout the season with the latest being at the Asian Swing. However, the Brit now seems to overcome her challenges as she shared an interesting update about hitting some balls again, and the tournament is not very far!

The British sensation shared an interesting update in a video message and expressed her excitement over returning to the courts. She disclosed that she will participate in the Hong Kong Open which would begin on October 28, and highlighted how motivated she is to play at the venue for the first time in her career so far.

Speaking in the video, the star player said, “Hello everyone, it’s Emma Raducanu here. I really cannot wait to come and play the Prudential Women’s Hong Kong Open. It’s my first time playing the WTA event there, but I was there in December last year and I really loved the city.” Continuing further, she once again reiterated her desire to compete in the tournament.

“I’m very much looking forward to coming and I hope to see you all there in October,” Raducanu added. Her participation was also confirmed by the organizers through a X post, earlier today. Remember, Emma Raducanu played her last tournament at the Korea Open where she faced a foot injury. The struggle began for the star player while playing against Yue Yuan when she received some treatment on her foot.

While she eventually prevailed over the Chinese player to enter the quarterfinals, Raducanu could not return to her dominant self and decided to withdraw mid-match during her clash against Daria Kasatkina. It was later reported to be a ligament sprain and forced her to remain away from the courts. However, this was not the only challenge she faced due to injury this year.

Raducanu missed several major tournaments and was not seen on the tennis courts between April and June this year until she made a comeback at the Nottingham Open. She spent the majority of her last season recovering from ankle and wrist surgeries and also witnessed a lower back injury this season which forced her to withdraw from Miami Open. When she returned back to the courts, she could not remain as dominant as her previous form and faced sensational struggles.

Her latest foot injury, meanwhile, also forced her to miss key tournaments at the Asian Swing like the China Open, the Wuhan Open, and the Ningbo Open. But as Raducanu makes a return again, all she would be expecting is a healthy season ahead.

When Emma Raducanu expressed her desire for the remaining of the season
Emma Raducanu started the ongoing season as the No. 285 ranked player owing to her absence from several tournaments last year after surgeries. But she made some quick progress and is now placed at No. 56, per WTA Tennis.com. As she now gears up for yet another tournament, all she would be expecting is staying healthy for the remainder of the season, as expressed by her in the past as well.

After defeating Peyton Stearns in the grueling 3-hour match at the Korea Open, Raducanu opened up about her plans for the rest of the year. Speaking to reporters, she said, “I think the rest of the year, as long as I’m healthy I’m going to try and finish the season and play as many matches as I can. So today, as grueling as it was, I think I had three hours of match experience, which can only aid me going into the next few weeks. For me now, I just want to play matches and, in the meantime, do a little bit of work on my game where I can.”

However, she faced a major roadblock soon after the statement. For now, her major focus would be to rise up the ranks quickly again and prove her dominance at the Hong Kong Open.
