Emma Raducanu’s first-round opponent for the 2024 US Open has been revealed, as the British tennis star looks to enjoy a deep run in New York. It has been three years since Raducanu remarkably landed the trophy in 2021 as she became the first qualifier to clinch a Grand Slam singles title in the Open Era.

 

 

Raducanu hasn’t reached the quarter-finals of a major tournament since that incredible triumph but the 21-year-old has enjoyed a resurgence across 2024.
She impressively reached the Wimbledon last 16 in July – just over a year after triple surgery – and has produced her first wins over players ranked in the top 10.

Raducanu skipped the Olympic Games in Paris to focus on the hard-court swing and Tim Henman has handed the Briton a 8.5/10 for her season so far as she prepares for her first match at Flushing Meadows. Following the conclusion of the first-round draw, it has been confirmed that Raducanu will face Sofia Kenin in her opening match at Flushing Meadows.Kenin is ranked world No.55 and given she is American and will be supported by a home crowd, it is a tough match for the unseeded Raducanu.

What time will Emma Raducanu’s first-round match be played at the 2024 US Open?
We are waiting for the US Open official order of play to confirm the exact time in which Raducanu’s first-round match will be played – and even then – it could depend on how long other matches go on for and be subject to late changes. Some matches get underway from 4pm UK time but the night matches will not begin until midnight UK time.

Sky Sports have the television rights for the 2024 US Open in the United Kingdom. It is highly likely that Raducanu’s first-round match will be broadcast live on their Sky Sports Tennis channel while they have also recently introduced ‘Sky Sports+’ – a new service which has been integrated into Sky TV, NOW TV and their app.
