Lydia Ko Sets Her Sights on Career Grand Slam After a Fairy-Tale 2024 Season
Golfer Lydia Ko (27, New Zealand), who celebrated a “fairy-tale year” in 2024, has set ambitious goals for the new season, aiming for even greater achievements. Building on her confidence from last year, Ko shared her dream of capturing another major championship title in 2025. At a sponsorship signing ceremony with Bose Golf held at the IMTam headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 6th, Ko reflected on her stellar 2024 season and expressed her determination for the year ahead.
Last year, Lydia Ko secured her place in the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame, won gold at the Paris Olympics, and triumphed at the AIG Women’s Open, capping off a dream season. She enjoyed a well-deserved break, spending time in Korea and New Zealand. On December 30th, Ko also received the youngest-ever civil order honor from the New Zealand government. Reflecting on the accolade, she said, “I had a special year as a golfer, and I received a meaningful gift that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”
Despite already securing legendary status in golf, Lydia Ko is far from finished. She will kick off her 2025 season at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions later this month. “My biggest goal this year is to achieve a career Grand Slam,” Ko emphasized. Having already won three major championships—the Evian Championship, the Chevron Championship, and the AIG Women’s Open—Ko now has her sights set on either the U.S. Women’s Open or the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, both scheduled for June.
“Winning an Olympic gold medal and a major championship back-to-back felt like a dream last year,” Ko said with a bright smile. “If I continue to work hard and stay focused, I believe I can make my dream come true again.” Lydia Ko’s journey continues, and the golfing world will be watching closely as she chases history in 2025.
