Emma Raducanu’s $14 Million Success Sparks Casper Ruud’s Sharp Call-Out Over Media Outlet’s Accuracy
The tennis court isn’t just about aces and volleys—it’s a golden stage where fortunes are made and bank accounts thrive. The latest list of highest-paid female athletes is out, and guess who’s making waves? Emma Raducanu! Despite a quieter year on the court, she’s making some waves on the financial scoreboard, outshining stars like Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina in certain aspects. Talk about star power! But not everyone’s thrilled with how these stats are shared. Enter ATP star Casper Ruud, who’s wishing for a shake-up in the way this data is presented.
The list of the highest-paid athletes by Sportico highlights the dominance of tennis stars with Coco Gauff leading from the front. Interestingly out of the top 10 athletes, six spots are clinched by the WTA Stars. But what caught the attention further is the fact that Raducanu, despite being placed below Aryna Sabalenka in the list and making less money than her through prize earnings has managed to outshine the combined income of Sabalenka and Rybakina.
The Brit has secured a $14.7 million fortune this year of which $14 Million comes from her endorsement deals as a result of her partnership with brands like Dior, Tiffany & Co., and Porsche. When it comes to Sabalenka, despite earning $17.7 Million, she could manage to gain only $8 Million from her brand partnerships. Rybakina too could make only $4 Million through endorsements. However, the stats received some doubts from Ruud. As soon as an X user shared the stats, Ruud was quick to question, “How do you/they know? Have you seen all of Emma, Aryna and Elena’s contracts with your own eyes?” The user replied highlighting Sportico’s methodology.
“Per Sportico: The endorsement earnings estimates were compiled through conversations with those familiar with marketing agreements.” However, Ruud did not seem convinced and desired a change in the way the stats were presented. “Fair enough, but even for them (sportico) it’s a guessing game.. there’s no way an agent would ever give access to their players contracts so in reality only the agent & player know the real numbers.. they should write «highest estimated payed athletes» in stead..,” the Norwegian star suggested. The numbers, meanwhile, are indeed interesting given Raducanu’s struggles throughout the year.
Per Sportico:

Remember, the British sensation witnessed multiple challenges due to injuries and managed to play only 34 matches, winning 21 of those. Her best performance came at the Nottingham Open where she advanced to the the semifinals. However, she bagged the seventh spot on the list as a result of her endorsement deals.
For the unversed, Emma Raducanu is estimated to earn around $2.1 Million each from Dior and Tiffany & Co., which signed deals with her after her US Open victory in 2021. In addition, she garners close to $1.05 Million as part of her deal with British Airways and $3.15 Million from Vodafone, per The Sun.
Coming back to Ruud, it will be interesting to see if the publication would respond to his request and incorporate the suggestions. But when it comes to Raducanu and finances the star player has highlighted how her parents have helped her evolve as an economically aware person.
Emma Raducanu has often surprised the tennis community with her finance-related endeavors. One such situation was witnessed ahead of the Qatar Open this year when the British sensation traveled to Doha via Dubai to attend the opening of the One&Only One Za’abeel hotel. While it is not common for players to attend any commercial event ahead of their matches, the Brit became an exception
When asked if she would cut on off-court events, she told The Times: “Not at all actually. It’s basically like training in Dubai and then having a nice dinner with a lot of people. The only difference is my dinners go public.” However, while Raducanu might have depicted her seriousness to earn more money, she also chooses to spend it wisely, a big credit for which goes to her parents.
