Lydia Ko’s Luxury Getaway with Husband Takes a Playful Turn as Old Habits Steal the Spotlight!
Golf is fun, but hey, it can also be mentally exhausting. Coming close to a victory, and losing it by a stroke hurts. Lydia Ko has one of the most impressive resumes in the LPGA Tour, and recently opened up about her own relationship with golf—and it’s not all sunshine and roses. After falling short of the season-ending 2024 CME Group Tour Championship trophy, she admitted in a press conference, “My relationship with golf is a love-hate affair. Anyone who has been fortunate to play this game knows that it’s a roller coaster.”
But now that the LPGA season is wrapped up, Ko is focused on the present—and giving herself a break from the mental grind. What better way to unwind than a relaxing vacation with her loving husband, Jun Chung? The two have escaped to a serene beach, and as you’d expect, Ko has been sharing glimpses of their getaway with her followers, where in one of the pictures she was seen in a golf swing posture with the caption, “Always be golfing.”
Sure, Ko says golf is a “love-hate” thing, but it seems like it’s more of love than hate. Maybe it’s not so easy to fully disconnect from something that’s been such a huge part of her life. She is the youngest entrant to the LPGA Hall of Fame, after all, and it would not have been possible without dedication.
Ko has made it clear that she plans to retire from professional golf by the time she turns 30, and when that day comes, she’s got her priorities straight. She’ll be ready to put her relationships and personal life at the forefront. As she has said earlier, “Golf doesn’t complete me; it’s just a part of me.”
While she might be stepping away from the professional circuit one day, it’s not today, and she will find time to sing her club, even if it’s just a swing here and there on vacation. She may miss her clubs, but with Chung by her side, she’s certainly making the most of this well-deserved break.
Jun Chung always shows up for Lydia Ko
When you think of Lydia Ko, you think of one of the most successful golfers in the world. But behind every success story is someone who supports, encourages, and stands by you through thick and thin. For Ko, that person is her husband, Jun Chung.
Since marrying in 2022, Chung has not only met Ko’s expectations but has exceeded them. His support has been a constant in her life, and Ko truly appreciates Chung’s support. She recently posted a sweet photo of the two of them on her Instagram story, captioning it “Thankful to you.” While she didn’t need to explain why, it’s clear that his actions speak louder than words.
At the 2024 CME Group Tour Championship, despite unfavorable weather reports and high winds, Chung came to support his wife. Ko recalled how he took a red-eye flight to be by her side, even after she suggested he skip it for safety reasons. “He was like, I got to come,” Ko shared. During the AIG Women’s British Open, he traveled with her to St. Andrews, even braving the rain and waking up at 4 a.m. to support her. “I feel bad because he’s having to wake up at 4:00 a.m. with me,” Ko admitted. “I’m very thankful that he’s taking a step back and doing things on my time.”
With Ko always swinging, and her husband supporting her, the two indeed make a beautiful couple. What do you think of them? Do you play golf on vacation?
