Emma Raducanu delivers update and receives messages of support after tennis star delayed return from injury
The 21-year-old has been sidelined with a foot problem ever since last month
Emma Raducanu has updated fans by showing she’s training hard as she prepares to return from injury next month. The tennis star has been sidelined with a foot problem ever since playing at the Korea Open last month. She has been forced to withdraw from multiple tournaments in the time since and, earlier this week, confirmed she’d be pulling out of the Hong Kong Tennis Open. The 21-year-old is now hoping to make her comeback at the Billie Jean Cup next month.
And Raducanu has now updated fans by sharing footage of herself working hard on the court. The tennis star was seen hitting balls in practice, exercising on a bike and working in the gym. The clip also offers a glimpse into Raducanu’s personal life, too, with the youngster eating out with friends and enjoying some karaoke in her down time. Fans on Instagram were supportive of the 2021 US Open champion, with one user writing: “Keep going Emma. Don’t listen to any negative comments. Use them as fuel. We are proudly behind you.”
A second said: “Come on Emma keep it going.”
A third stated: “Love. Keep putting in the work.”
Another wrote: “Keep working harder and harder and focus on your recovery, I’m sure you’ll be back stronger and more determined.”
And a fifth penned a message that read: “Great to see! Emma happy, healthy, and on the way back. Thanks so much as always Emma for sharing with us – we love it!”
Meanwhile, Laura Robson has opened up on Raducanu as she gears up for her return to action. Back in August, the tennis star admitted that her decision to play just one hard-court tournament before the US Open was a ‘collective call’ and that she’d learn from that mistake in the future. And Robson has backed Raducanu to rediscover her best form, telling Sky Sports: “It’s tough listening to her say that in New York because you constantly have the feeling as a tennis player that you could’ve done things differently.
“It’s still such a learning experience and the fact that she’s still figuring out what works for her, figuring out where she wants to play, and how many tournaments.

“The game style has been a bit more aggressive over the last couple of months, which is great, but I think it’s also a learning curve.
“When you look at her results when she has played well and consistently – she can beat almost anyone.
“She’s a great player with such an attacking game style but you just need to be able to do that day in, day out.”
Robson also thinks Raducanu deserves credit for rising to No 57 in the world, having started the year as the world No 285.
“When you think about the months that she’s missed, to climb to the ranking she is now, it’s actually impressive,” she added. “In that respect, she’s done really well.
“I think everyone, including her, would like to see it happen more often.
“It’s all about figuring out what works for you and maybe she just got unlucky over the last few weeks because that would have been a run of four or five events in a row, which would have been great, but then you pick up one little injury or niggle and you have got to start again all the time.
“When you have the opportunity to play, she’s now realised that that’s the way forward and if you can play back-to-back weeks then go for it.”
