PGA Tour Injury Update: Jordan Spieth Spotted With a Cast, First Insight After Concerning Surgery Surfaces

An injury-free Jordan Spieth is what many would love to see! For that, however, we will have to wait. January 1 would be an ideal deadline of sorts, as the golfer himself said so: “I think that by 2025, by Jan. 1, it’s my goal to be tournament-ready.” But for now, fans can only make do with a recovering Spieth, as he was spotted at Brookhaven Country Club.

The 31-year-old shared a series of pictures on his Instagram, recounting the day he spent at the club. In all the snaps, he was sporting a cast wrapped around his left wrist, but that didn’t stop him from enjoying the day. “It was incredible,” wrote the athlete as he reminisced about the junior golf event he appeared at the Country Club on September 16, “These juniors are sharp, love the game, and have worked hard all summer to meet their goals.”

Spieth then recounted his 20+ years in the sport before expressing his awe at the painted fairway at the club near Dallas, as well as the talent the youngsters displayed. “Walking and talking with these kids and reminiscing on those moments was a blast,” added the pro, ” I’m so excited to see the future of our sport and continue partnering on junior golf with @jordanspiethfamfoundation and @invitedclubs.”

Although the post was about his day at the golfing event, many of his fans came forward to express their concern for the athlete and his wrist. Unfortunately, Spieth had been suffering from an ulnar nerve injury in his left hand throughout the year. This caused the sub-sheath of the extensor tendon on the back of his wrist to become partially torn, leading to a dislocation of the ECU tendon.

But the golfer, as soon as the St. Jude Championship got over, divulged his plans for surgery. “I’ve got to have it operated on ASAP,” said the pro back then, ” If I don’t have a reason to try to rush back—which I don’t—I’ll probably just take it as slow as I can.” True to his word, Spieth has shared his goal of being tournament-ready by January 1, 2025, a whole 3-4 months down the road.

The ‘inevitability’ of Jordan Spieth’s surgery
When asked why he opted for surgery, Spieth shared how the injury affected his day-to-day life. He explained this in an interview with Golfweek: “It affects my way of life at home,” said the pro, recalling instances when his wrist would dislocate, “It would happen when I’m getting my daughter out of the bath, I’m putting a sweatshirt on or it just so random”

Enough is enough, thought the golfer, as he added, “I didn’t want it to continue, and it happened more and more.” That coupled with the diagnosis that it wasn’t going to heal itself after multiple consultations and scans led him to the conclusion; “It’s just inevitable.” Now, almost a month after his surgery, Spieth shared a special moment with young golfers, despite still recovering. The meet-up paints a hopeful picture for the golfer and his 2025 plans!
