Riley Keough gives Oprah first in-depth interview since mother Lisa Marie Presley’s 2023 death

Oprah Winfrey is sitting down for a little more conversation. The legendary TV personality will interview Riley Keough in a one-off special on CBS about the Presley dynasty, titled An Oprah Special: The Presleys — Elvis, Lisa Marie, and Riley. Keough is the granddaughter of Elvis Presley and the daughter of his late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. The one-hour conversation marks Keough’s first in-depth interview since her mother’s death in 2023. The special will air on CBS and Paramount+ with Showtime on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m.

The interview will take place at the Presleys’ historic estate, Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tenn., and corresponds with the release of Lisa Marie’s memoir From Here to the Great Unknown, which Keough helped finish after the death of her mother.

The official description for the special says that the interview will heavily discuss the memoir, which is described as “detailing Lisa Marie’s idyllic but wild childhood years with Elvis, Elvis’ shocking death, her challenging teen years in the wake of her father’s death, her marriages, her devotion to her children and her agonizing descent into addiction.” The conversation will be supplemented with “never-before-seen family photos and home videos, as well as selections of Lisa Marie’s personal audio recordings, including memories of her father.”

Not mentioned in the press release: Priscilla Presley, the ex-wife of the King of Rock and Roll and cofounder of Elvis Presley Enterprises. Lisa Marie’s death caused some confusion surrounding Elvis Presley Enterprises and the Graceland property, which spawned rumors of a rift between Presley and Keough. However, Priscilla set the record straight. “Riley and I are on good terms. We were never not on good terms,” she said. “I’m there for her. She knows that. She wants me there for her to help her.”

Keough recently starred in the music drama series Daisy Jones & the Six and the movie Sasquatch Sunset. Keough has acted in a number of critically acclaimed movies, including American Honey, Mad Max: Fury Road, Zola, Logan Lucky, and It Comes at Night.

The Oprah special is the latest in a string of recent projects about the Presleys. In 2022, Baz Luhrmann’s bombastic biopic Elvis became a box office sensation and helped launch Austin Butler as one of his generation’s most promising talents, and in 2023, Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla examined the complex dynamics of the Presleys’ marriage with Jacob Elordi as Elvis and Cailee Spaeny as his titular young bride.
