Emma Raducanu must leave ego at the door after decision comes back to bite her
Emma Raducanu is struggling to get her schedule right
Emma Raducanu has to leave her ego at the door when selecting tournaments and remember how it all started. The Brit admitted she made mistakes heading into the US Open after crashing out in the first round.
“I would have preferred to probably play a little bit more before coming into the US Open,” Raducanu confessed. After being snubbed for a wildcard at the Cincinnati Open a fortnight before heading to New York, she turned down the opportunity to fight her way through qualifying.
The 21-year-old old also turned her nose up at competing in an ATP 250 event in the week prior. Raducanu had to opportunity to compete in tournaments that may be deemed below her superstar profile, a decision that has ultimately come back to bite her.
During that time Sofia Kenin, who beat Raducanu in the first round at Flushing Meadows, participated in the lesser-known Tennis in the Land ATP 250 event.
Wins, at any level, build momentum and confidence.
Throwback to three years ago and Raducanu came through qualifying to win the only Grand Slam title of her career.
THE only thing brutal about Logan Sargeant’s dismissal from Williams is that James Vowles put the American through 15 races of misery this season.
It took setting his car ablaze and causing substantial damage in the Netherlands for him to be sacked. But it should have happened at the end of last season when he scored just one point, compared to the 27 of his team-mate Alex Albon.
