Lydia Ko’s Husband Update: Is Chung Jun Supporting the LPGA Star at AIG Women’s Open?
Get ready for some serious golf action! The AIG Women’s Open is teeing off from August 22 to 25 at the iconic Old Course Links Golf Course in St. Andrews. The energy is electric, and fans can’t wait to see top players like Nelly Korda, Megan Khang, Lilia Vu, and Lydia Ko battle it out for that sweet trophy. But this year’s AIG is going to be extra special for Ko, and you’ll never guess the reason.
In a recent interview with AIG Women’s Open, while talking about her victory at the Paris Olympics, where she dominated the field of women’s golf and took home the gold medal for Team New Zealand, Ko shared that her husband, Chung Jun, and her family will be seen on the greens of St. Andrews to support Ko. “My sister and I were there in Paris, and we had a few more family members come over this past week. So my mom took a picture of it, and my brother-in-law and my husband are here,” said Ko.
The couple tied the knot in 2022. Jun is the son of the vice-chairman and CEO of the popular brand Hyundai Card and works in the finance department of Hyundai. The golfer’s husband’s family is worth $14.8 billion.
The golfer is stoked to have her partner by her side, and for good reason, as this will be Chung’s first time attending a golf tournament as Ko’s husband. The last time Chung Jun attended a golf tournament was during the 2022 CME Tour Championship, where Ko took home the trophy in all her glory, but he was only her boyfriend back then. Can Chung prove to be a lucky charm for his wife again? Only time will tell.

An athlete needs to know that people are rooting for them but in Ko’s case, she doesn’t need to worry about that as her husband Chung Jun is always by her side. “I think he changed my life and I’m very grateful for his support and for him understanding what I do”, once said Ko.
Ko credits her husband as one of the biggest influences in her life, saying he’s helped her enjoy golf more since they met. “It makes a big difference and to know that there’s somebody at the end of my round no matter what I shoot, to support me and just think of me, not the golfer Lydia Ko but Bo-Gyung, my Korean name,” she remarked at the 2023 HSBC Classic.
