WATCH: Brooke Henderson gets a grand send off to Olympics from Canada, gets police escort as town shows up for farewell

Brooke Henderson received a grand send-off to the Olympics from Canada on Saturday, August 3. She is one of two players from Canada who’ll be competing in the women’s golf individual stroke play competition at Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France from August 7 to 10. The other player is Alena Sharp.

 

 

Henderson will be appearing at the Olympics for the third time. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, she finished T7, whereas at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she finished tied for 29th.Henderson hails from Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada. She was accompanied by her sister Brittany at the send-off for the Paris Olympics. The video of her grand send-off was shared by Hustle & Heart 88.1 myFM on Facebook. In turn, it was shared by a fan on X (formerly Twitter), with the captioned:

 

 

“Brooke’s hometown of Smiths Falls helped send her off to the #Olympics in style! The Mayor, town, Brooke and Brittany’s favorite Horses, and a police escort wished her well on her way to Paris.”


In the video, Henderson was asked what the turnout means to her. She said (via Hustle & Heart 88.1 myFM):
“It’s so special. It’s really amazing. Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting us.”

The Mayor of Smiths Falls, Shawn Pankow, was also present at the send-off and wished her well. He shared the pictures on his Facebook page and wrote:

“What an incredible turn out from our community to cheer on Brooke and Brittany Henderson as they leave town headed for the Paris Olympics and a chance for gold! Best of luck Brooke and Brittany, you entire town and country are with you every step of the way!!”
