Riley Keough to visit Graceland to talk about family, mom Lisa Marie Presley’s memoir
Riley Keough, the actress/filmmaker granddaughter of Elvis Presley, will be at The Soundstage at Graceland on Oct. 12 for a public conversation about her family and her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, in conjunction with the publication of “From Here to the Great Unknown,” the Lisa Marie memoir that Keough finished after her mother’s death.
Tickets to the 6:30 p.m. event are $40 each and are available at graceland.com. The ticket price includes a lithograph and a copy of the book, each signed by Keough.
The Graceland website describes the event as “a one-of-a-kind conversation” in which Keough will pay tribute “to her mother Lisa Marie Presley’s incredible memory. Joined by a special guest, Keough will dive into a legendary tale of American royalty, family ties, the highs and lows of fame, love, grief, and the unbreakable bond between a mother and daughter.
“Elvis Presley’s only child spent years recording countless hours of riveting, raw, and breathtakingly vulnerable tape for her memoir,” the website continues. “After Lisa Marie’s passing in 2023, her daughter Riley dedicated her time to fulfilling her mother’s wish to share her words and complete her unfinished work. In ‘From Here to the Great Unknown,’ Lisa Marie and Riley’s voices join together to tell one breathtaking story.”
The event is part of a tour and promotional campaign for the book, which has a publication date of Oct. 8. When Random House announced the book in January, publicists promised a “raw, riveting memoir” that would “lift the veil on one of America’s most storied families.”
The only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie died on Jan. 12, 2023, at age 54.
In addition to being the daughter of the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” Lisa Marie Presley was married to pop superstar Michael Jackson and to Nicolas Cage; she pursued her own recording career, while befriending a wide range of celebrities; and she suffered significant family tragedies, as both a child and an adult (the death of her 42-year-old father in 1977 and the suicide of her 27-year-old son, Benjamin Keough, in 2020).
Since her mother’s death and her inheritance of the Graceland mansion, Riley Keough, 35, has become an active steward of her family legacy, while also pursuing her career as an actress (Emmy-nominated for “Daisy & the Six”) and director (“War Pony”). The memoir is her second major Graceland-connected project, after last year’s NBC special, “Christmas at Graceland.”
