Paige Spiranac ‘breaks down’ after Grayson Murray’s death and says goodbye to him with emotional message
The pro golfer was 30 years old
The shocking death of Grayson Murray has turned the golf world on its head. Murray, who had just withdrawn from the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas, died Saturday at the age of 30, leading to an outpouring of grief and sorrow from around golf as his colleagues come to grip with his passing.
Former pro golfer and current influencer Paige Spiranac was friendly with Murray, and many remember a flirtatious interaction concerning the two from 2022. Spiranac has become the latest to pay tribute to Murray in an emotional social media post that revealed the nature of their relationship.
Paige laments “unbelievably sad” situation
Spiranac took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday morning to reveal her shock at the “incredibly kind” Murray’s death on Saturday, a day after he had withdrawn in the second round of the Charles Schwab Challenge. She noted that she had known Murray since their days in junior golf together, and she remembered how he would go out of his way to congratulate her on her achievements — “whether big or small.”
“Unbelievably sad and my prayers go out to his friends and family,” Spiranac wrote.
I’ve known Grayson since our junior golf days and I’ll never forget how he always went out of his way to congratulate me on accomplishments whether big or small. He had always been incredibly kind to me. Unbelievably sad and my prayers go out to his friends and family https://t.co/VE49YHWfCQ

When he first met Spiranac, Murray was a junior golf prodigy, regarded as one of the top golfing prospects in the United States. He won the Junior Worlds on three occasions, and he recorded his first PGA Tour win — the 2017 Barbasol Championship — when he was only 22 years old.
It was well known that Murray had battled anxiety and depression in recent years, and he had been sober for several months following treatment for alcohol abuse. The two-time PGA Tour winner had ended a six-year drought in between victories earlier this year when he won the Sony Open in Honolulu, and Spiranac is only the latest to point out Murray’s generosity and kindness in light of his personal turbulence.
“We get so worked up out here about a bad break here or a good break there.”
Peter Malnati played with Grayson Murray in his last two rounds of golf.
Grayson withdrew late on Friday. He passed away yesterday at the age of 30.
Just heartbreaking stuff.
