Andy Murray Falls Onto Mother Judy’s Arms in Emotional Scenes After Extending Retirement at Paris Olympics
Keep it rolling! Andy Murray‘s career was almost close to a ‘sunset‘ on a beautiful Sunday evening at the ‘City of Lights‘. The tennis world witnessed a high drama when the Brit partnered with Dan Evans to take on Japan’s Kei Nishikori and Taro Daniels. Both Muray and Evans had to save all five match points to secure a thumping 2-6,7-6(5),11-9 victory over the Japanese duo. And Murray’s mother, Judy, couldn’t control her emotions after seeing that epic comeback!
The proud mum was spotted having a sigh of relief with his son and giving him a tight hug for his incredible fight till the very last moment of that match. Just imagine there was a point in the match when Nishikori and Daniels went off to a 9-4 lead in the first-to-10-set battle! Man, if only pulling out the victory from the jaws of a defeat, had a better example. This is surely gonna be one of the greatest comebacks in not just Andy Murray’s career but in the history of this mega event.
Do you know that no other player in the history of the sport has made a comeback from a two-set-to-love more than Andy Murray (11) throughout his career? Perhaps this is why Judy Murray reacted with “Same old” while sharing a tweet on his son’s incredible comeback.

The 37-year-old tennis star is appearing in the fifth Olympics of his playing career. However, the emotions and dedication are still the same as it was in his maiden appearance. He won the gold medal in the singles event in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics. Apart from that, he also won the silver medal in the mixed doubles in London. Thrilled fans are now wondering what lies ahead of their tennis great in Paris. Even Andy Murray described this recent triumph as one of the best recoveries of his career.
“It was looking like we were on our way home” – Andy Murray’s reaction after their incredible comeback
Andy Murray’s retirement: Access Denied! Shortly after the match, Judy Murray spoke to BBC Sport and during the short interview, she revealed, “I was mentally working out which flight I would get home tonight. But you can never write him off.” Surely Andy Murray has now made it a habit. However, despite making it a habit, even Murray couldn’t figure out what was lying ahead of him in this match. “I don’t think I’ve ever saved five consecutive match points and gone on to win a match,” Murray claimed after the match.
The British tennis star admitted that it’s just great to get another two days at the Olympics and be around the team and support them as much as he can. His eyes are always set on another medal, but this little lub-dub in the later stages of that nail-biting contest made him feel, “It was looking like we were on our way home and it was going to be the end but we found some great stuff at the end.“
Later on, Murray even posted a glimpse of their latest match on his Instagram account and captioned that photo with “Let’s f*cking go“. The ‘young man’ looks absolutely fired up! With already withdrawing his name from the singles event, all he has now is the stage of the men’s doubles event! Do you think he can yet again come up with a miracle in the Olympics before hanging his boots? Racquet!!!
