Chris Evert gets a kick out of Mardy Fish teasing Carlos Alcaraz for being the center of attraction among Dutch female athletes at Paris Olympics 2024

Carlos Alcaraz enters the 2024 Paris Olympics as arguably one of the most in-form athletes. His recent triumphs have also made him one of the more popular stars at the Olympics village, with a host of athletes from all over the world grabbing the opportunity to take a picture alongside him.

The 20-year-old Spaniard heads into the French capital on the back of some scintillating form over the past month and a half. It infact all began in the Paris back in June when he defeated Alexander Zverev en route to his maiden Roland Garros title. In doing so, he became the youngest man in the open era to win a Major on all three surfaces.

Alcaraz carried that blistering form into the All England Club where he reigned supreme for a second consecutive time. He dismissed seven-time champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets to claim his fourth Grand Slam title.

At the Olympic village now and quite evidently enjoying the festivities, Alcaraz was photographed in high spirits alongside the Dutch women’s hockey team on Wednesday night. He was also quoted telling the press earlier that day that he wanted to live in the Olympic Village because of the “experience.”

U.S. retired tennis pro Mardy Fish reshared that very image of Alcaraz later that day with a cheeky dig that suggested he wasn’t being ‘sly’ about enjoying his time at the Olympic village.

“You ain’t sly Carlito!” Fish exclaimed via X (formerly Twitter).
18-time singles Grand Slam champion Chris Evert couldn’t help but respond to Fish’s cheeky admission, going on to declare him as ‘fearless.’

“Fearless man!!!!” Evert wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Alcaraz is one of Spain’s four entrants in the men’s singles draw, and five athletes overall. Rafael Nadal, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Pablo Carreno Busta, and Marcel Granollers being the others.

Alcaraz heads into the summer games with a 33-6 match record this year alongside the three titles. He will be aiming to capture his second title on Court Philippe-Chatrier this year after lifting the Roland Garros crown in June.

Carlos Alcaraz to take on Hady Habib in Paris Olympics 2024 1R
Second seed Carlos Alcaraz is slated to take on Lebanon’s Hady Habib in the opening round of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The relatively unknown Habib primarily plies his trade on the Challenger and ITF circuits. He’s ranked 275 in the men’s rankings currently and holds a paltry 8-7 match record on the professional circuit.

A blockbuster second-round clash against either Cameron Norrie or Tallon Griekspoor potentially awaits Alcaraz should both of them come out on top in their openers. The Spaniard’s draw doesn’t get any easier as he could look to take on either Alejandro Tabilo or Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the subsequent round. Alex de Minaur could very likely be his quarterfinal opponent, and either Daniil Medvedev or Casper Ruud his semifinal opponent.

Alcaraz is set to feature in doubles action alongside the legendary Rafael Nadal. The pair will open their campaign against sixth seeds Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez of Argentina.
