Carlos Alcaraz speaks out on Emma Raducanu rumours as video of champion emerges
The tennis ace was quizzed on the nature of his relationship with Raducanu after winning his second Wimbledon title
Wimbledon men’s singles champion Carlos Alcaraz has responded to rumours linking him to British tennis star Emma Raducanu after she attended his final win over Novak Djokovic. Raducanu, who was knocked out in the fourth round of this year’s ladies’ singles competition, was in the stands at Centre Court on Sunday as she watched the Spaniard claim back-to-back titles at SW19 by beating Djokovic in straight sets.
Of course, many assumed the 21-year-old to be there simply as a tennis fan but her presence prompted some people to wildly speculate that the two tennis aces may in fact be an item. Quizzed on Raducanu’s attendance following the match, however, Alcaraz, also 21, couldn’t help but laugh at the far-fetched romance rumours. Asked for his thoughts on why the British star came to watch him, he replied: “I don’t know, I don’t know. I think a lot of people came to see the final.
“I think Novak and I always put on a good game, a show on the court. I think it is a beautiful game to watch. And she is from here, so I imagine that she wanted to come and see it. If there was a Grand Slam in Murcia [his home town] I would 100 per cent go to the final, even if I wasn’t playing.” However, the new champion couldn’t help but tease as he added: “I don’t know if she came to the finals or if she came to see me. Who knows? You have to ask her, but I hope she enjoyed the final.”
But while Alcaraz poked fun at the rumours surrounding him and Raducanu, he was pictured with another woman just hours later – as he danced with ladies’ singles champion Barbora Krejcikova at the annual Wimbledon Champions’ Dinner. Krejcikova, who won her first WImbledon title by beating seventh seed Jasmine Paolini in the final, was paired up with fellow champion Alcaraz as they took part in the traditional dance at the dinner.

In a clip that has now gone viral, the pair can be seen awkwardly dancing to Dua Lipa’s ‘Dance the Night’, with the Spaniard even giving his partner a twirl towards the end of the routine.
While he shows no fear on the court, it was a moment the tennis star had been dreading, as he admitted to Annabel Croft after his title-winning victory that his dancing skills were not quite up to scratch. “Let’s say, could be better I guess,” he laughed. “Yeah, let’s see tonight, but I try to do my best.”
