Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu relationship explained as wild dating rumours circle after Wimbledon

As Emma Raducanu was filmed watching Carlos Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic in Sunday’s Wimbledon final, supporters on social media were immediately sent into a frenzy. Some mischievously started to suggest the pair were romantically involved. One user even said Alcaraz became ‘prime Roger Federer’ as a result of Raducanu watching him in the stands.

However, a fascinating story though that would be, it’s understood the pair are simply friends. Nothing more.
Perhaps due to the film Challengers, the idea of two tennis players being together is a nice one. Also check Wimbledon (2004), starring Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst. But GB News is now on hand to clarify the situation and debunk the rumours once and for all. Alcaraz, speaking before Wimbledon started, was asked about his personal life. When quizzed on whether he had someone special in his life, the 21-year-old responded by saying: “No, I am single.”

Spanish media cheekily asked the four-time Grand Slam winner on Sunday whether there was any special meaning in Raducanu watching his match with Djokovic. Clearly aware of the rumours, the Spaniard had a smile on his face as he put them to bed. “I don’t know. I guess a lot of people came to see the final,” he said. “Novak and I we always play a spectacular match, it’s a beautiful match to see. “And she is from here, so I imagine that she wanted to come and see it. If there was a Grand Slam in Murcia I would watch the finals 100 per cent.

“I don’t know if she came to the finals or if she came to see me. Who knows? You have to question her, but I hope she enjoyed the final.” Alcaraz is, however, an ally of Raducanu’s. He has previously lavished praise on the Briton and defended her following her withdrawal from the mixed doubles earlier this month. By quitting, Raducanu denied fans the chance to see Andy Murray one last time. A quick scan of her social media shows many supporters remain unhappy with that controversy.

But Alcaraz had supportive words for his friend. He defended her by saying: “She said she was going to play mixed doubles with Andy in the last Wimbledon of his career. “But obviously she’s young. I’m sure she didn’t want to pull out of the mixed doubles. She had her reasons to do it, I guess physical problems.
