Brooke pulls in $63,163 for T26 finish in Major LPGA Tour tournament; Ayaka wins Amundi Evian Championship in France
Brooke Henderson recorded back-to-back even par rounds of 71 during the weekend to close out the Amundi Evian Championship at five-under 279 and in T26 place. Henderson finished the tournament 14 strokes behind the champ Ayaka Furue of Japan. Furue posted a 19-under 265 for the tournament to emerge victorious by one shot over Stephanie Kyriacou of Australia.
Furue banked $1.2 million US for the Major win while the second-place Kyriacou earned $731,723. Meanwhile, the Canadian superstar made two eagles and four bogeys in the tournament’s fourth round. She banked $63,163US for the effort. The Smiths Falls, ON, native’s eagles came at holes nine and 18 on the Evian Resort Golf Club layout.
Henderson, the winningest all-time Canadian professional golfer (men included) having won 13 times on the LPGA Tour, recorded a final-round Stats Line that featured an average driving distance of 267 yards, she hit 10 of 13 fairways, hit 14 of 18 greens in regulation and stroked 32 putts.
