Rory McIlroy’s wife Erica Stoll keeps a close eye on PGA Tour star on comeback

Rory McIlroy's wife has been pictured at the Genesis Scottish Open after travelling to Scotland with her husband following their divorce u-turn

Erica Stoll was seen walking around The Renaissance Club as her husband Rory McIlroy took part in the Scottish Open – with the two continuing to spend time together after their eventful few weeks. McIlroy had filed for divorce in May proposing to bring an end to their marriage after seven years, before their shock reversal on that decision as they looked to reconcile.

The two have been spotted together on several occasions with their family, with Stoll making the trip to the U.S. Open, before travelling back to the United Kingdom this week as the Northern Irishman prepares for The Open. McIlroy officially began said preparations on Thursday, taking part in the Scottish Open at which Stoll was pictured walking around on her own – smiling while following her husband around the course.

McIlroy shot five-under-par to begin at the Scottish Open, following on from his impressive form after coming so close to winning his first major in 10 years at The US Open at Pinehurst.
He shot five birdies and an eagle during his solid opening round, being just one shot off leader Maximilian Kieffer who leads the field.

McIlroy had been playing without his wedding ring in May and June, but was seen with it back on his finger in Scotland on Thursday.

After their divorce had been called off, McIlroy stated that his decision to reconcile was one he’s extremely pleased to be making. He told The Guardian: “There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game.

“Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
