Riley Keough Goes Sheer in Black Dress and Lily Gladstone Nods to Indigenous Culture on the Red Carpet

The 2024 Gotham TV Awards took place in New York on Tuesday night, with stars like Kristen Wiig, Mariska Hargitay and Riley Keough. “Expats” creator Lulu Wang, “The Crown” helmer Peter Morgan and Hargitay were honored at the ceremony, with the latter celebrating the 25th anniversary of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

These days, it’s nearly impossible to have a red carpet without the naked dress making an appearance. The sheer frock that has captured the hearts of Hollywood and the public alike comes in all different shapes, sizes, colors, and aesthetics (see Demi Moore’s sparkly mesh gown or Gisele Bündchen’s dainty lace version).

Riley Keough is the latest to wear the favorite, and she put a surprisingly dark but preppy twist on the trend. On Monday, the actress attended the premiere of her new Hulu show Under The Bridge in a black sheer T-length dress with a high ruffled neckline, billowy see-through sleeves with pleated bell sleeves, and a waistband along the midsection. While the feminine silhouette of the piece screams dark academia, Keough chose to pair the mesh look with nothing except a black bra and matching briefs, making it feel less appropriate for any scholastic meetings.

The star paired the look with matching peep-toe, ankle-strap heels, and accessorized with a smattering of silver rings and matching earrings. Her newly dyed auburn hair was styled in gentle waves with a middle part, and her glam included a smoked-out eyeliner, sparkly inner highlight, and a pink lip.

The new show, which premieres on the app tomorrow, also stars Killers of the Flower Moon Star Lily Gladstone and is based on Rebecca Godfrey’s book of the same name. The plot follows the 1997 true story about a young girl who was murdered after going missing on her way to a party, per Hulu’s website. Archie Panjabi, Vritika Gupta, Chloe Guidry, Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton, Izzy G., Aiyana Goodfellow, and Ezra Faroque Khan also joined the cast alongside Keough and Gladstone.

Just earlier this year, Keough traded in her signature red locks for a jet-black ‘do, which she debuted at the 2024 Emmys. Keough was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress In a Limited Anthology, Series, or Movie for her role as Daisy Jones in Daisy Jones & the Six.
