Brooke records seven-under 281 total in Meijer LPGA Classic to earn $18+Gs; Lilia Vu wins title in playoff

Brooke Henderson carded an even-par 72 score to close out the Meijer LPGA Classic at seven-under 281 and in T34 place. Henderson finished the tournament nine shots back of the three first-place finishers Lilia Vu of the U.S., Lexi Thompson of the U.S. and Grace Kim of Australia.

Vu won the tournament in a playoff and earned the $450,000 champion’s money. The Canadian superstar made three birdies and three bogeys in the tournament’s fourth round. She banked $18,689 US for the effort. The Smiths Falls, ON, native’s birdies came at holes 3, 12 and 18 on the Blythefield Country Club layout.

 

 

Henderson, the winningest all-time Canadian professional golfer (men included) having won 13 times on the LPGA Tour, recorded a final-round Stats Line that featured an average driving distance of 281 yards, she hit seven of 13 fairways, hit 13 of 18 greens in regulation and stroked 32 putts.

Fellow Canadian Alena Sharp of Hamilton finished T80 after posting a six-over 294 total. She earned $5,209. Canadians Maude-Aimee Leblanc of Sherbrooke, QC, and Savannah Grewal of Mississauga, ON, missed the cut. Vu won the event after posting rounds of 69, 70, 68 and 65 to end up at 16-under.
