Rickie Fowler Gets Laughed at by Golf World as Outing With Jordan Spieth After Memorial Disaster Goes Viral

The putt on the 18th hole in a playoff against Rory McIlroy at the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship was the moment that made Rickie Fowler a big rising star. But it appears that this is the only memory that golf enthusiasts still hold on to. The American came out to win only five PGA Tour wins since.

This year adds up to yet another winless season for the professional golfer so far. He recently played in the Jack Nicklaus Memorial Tournament. He failed to make the cut, scoring 76 and 82 in the first two days. After a humiliating 10 over in the second round, the 35-year-old was then accompanied by another big name as both went on to practice for next week’s U.S. Open that is scheduled to be held at Pinehurst.

His partner was Jordan Spieth, who, with his 5 over par 142, could not make the cut at the Memorial either. The duo was seen practicing at the US Open’s venue, as reported by NUCLR Golf on its X handle. The three-time major champion, Jordan Spieth, was once in the No. 1 position on the OWGR list. But since 2017, he has had a hard time maintaining his reputation as a winner, with only two PGA Tour wins in 2021 and 2022. Which is long-term per the quality and capability the golfer had once shown, especially in 2015 when he won the Masters and US Open.

Spieth started his 2024 season positively, securing a solo third finish at the Sentry. He then again came close to T-6 at the Phoenix Open. But as the season progressed, he struggled to make cuts, finished outside the top 10 regularly, and out of the 15 starts he had this season, including the Memorial, the 30-year-old managed to secure a top 10 finish in 3 and missed cuts in 5. Fowler, on the other hand, had a worse performance in terms of top-10 finishes.

Rickie Fowler has taken part in 15 events so far, and among those, he has failed to spot a top-10 position. Additionally, he only managed to earn a spot in the top-20 once, which was at the RBC Heritage tournament. The last time he won a title was the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic. Both golfers were once top contenders for the major tournaments, but their 2024 season is marked by some bad performances in the coveted tournaments. Golf enthusiasts worldwide pinned out the duo’s recent performances as they saw them practicing together for the upcoming major.

What comments do the golf enthusiasts downpour on the duo’s practice session post?
One X user commented on a sarcastic note, “Why aren’t they at the memorial? Oh wait…nevermind” implying the duo’s absence due to the poor performance both had gone through at the Memorial, failing to make the cut. Another enthusiast points out the specific scores both Fowler and Spieth made, “That’s what happens when you shoot +14 & +5 respectively in 2 rounds at the Memorial.” Highlighting the struggles the duo faced at the Muirfield Village Golf Club.

A user combined sarcasm and humor, he stated, “The 2 current GOATS on a fact-finding mission as they prepare for what will be an epic playoff yep the tournament starts Thursday. Makes sense!” Mocking Fowler and Spieth being the greatest of all time, suggesting their practice is a desperate attempt to salvage their season ahead of the US Open.
