WATCH: Chris Evert Reaches Out to Fumbling Introvert Iga Swiatek in a Delightful French Open Moment
Iga Swiatek successfully defended her French Open title as well as creating history, as it was a three-peat! She has now won the Roland Garros title three times in a row! It was a magnificent feat for the Pole. And with this historic win, Swiatek is on the way to emulate the big record of Rafael Nadal. She already has four titles down and needs to win just 10 more to equal her idol’s record. But that is way into the future.
Despite hitting shots on the court with utmost confidence and winning matches, the World No. 1 is not so confident when it comes to giving post-win speeches! Her introverted nature certainly comes in the way of it. However, she has an ex-pro standing beside her, Chris Evert, to guide the champion!
The moment Jasmine Paolini made the error of returning the shot out of the court, Swiatek was on her knees with a racquet in her hand and bowing. She realized that she had defended her title in straight sets, barely giving way to the Italian to make a comeback. And after the customary handshake, the 24-year-old was jumping around the court to celebrate her victory. A unique victory dance for World No. 1 However, after all the celebration came the time to lift their earned titles and their victory speeches. And Christ Evert had to step in to help the Pole get through it.
During her victory speech, the Pole started by praising her opponent and wishing her team well. However, there was one thing that caught everyone’s attention. The fumbling! The champion fumbled many times before the veteran tennis legend came to her rescue. Amidst her speech, World No. 1 was shocked by her continued stops as she apologized to the crowd.
She said, “Oh My God, Sorry…… “ then there was silence for a few seconds. And it was then that Evert utilized it and gave her some tips to get through it. Iga started by acknowledging Evert and continued further, “Okay, I got something from the pros, all better, Merci Beaucoup. I was almost out of the tournament in the second round…”

With the title comes history and huge prize money. And this time there will be bigger smiles and heavier pockets, as the tournament has increased the prize for all! But how much did Swiatek take home?
Iga Swiatek takes home over €2 million as her reward
Swiatek would certainly feel the difference in the prize money as the champion has been winning the French Open for the last two years. And this time she would take 8% more than last year. Iga would take home €2.4 million as the winner’s reward. While Paolini took home, half of Swiatek’s amount, €1.2 million,.
With her third consecutive French Open title, Iga Swiatek has established her dominance on the clay court and in women’s tennis. Which has been lagging since the Williams sisters faded from the court. It was a remarkable moment for women’s tennis. Moreover, with this feat, Swiatek becomes the favorite to win the upcoming majors.
