Compassionate Moment With Special Olympics Golfers Earn Lexi Thompson a ‘Role Model’ Status Among Fans

For two consecutive years, Lexi Thompson had to walk back from her Chevron Championship dream with an injured hand. Although she explained how she wished to recover before pushing herself again, did you really think she would not participate in the upcoming event? The Cognizant Founders Cup is commencing from May 9th to 12th at Upper Montclair Country Club, and Thompson is indeed participating. But instead of practicing, or rather recovering, guess where Thompson went only a day before the tournament?

Lexi Thompson met and played a scant amount of golf with a few ladies from the Special Olympics New Jersey organization. She not only shared photos and videos from the day on her Instagram handle but also wrote how much she enjoyed the experience. She reflected, “Such an amazing afternoon with these amazing ladies of the SONJ ☺️ #growthegame.” Grace Kim, who will also be playing at the Cognizant Founders Cup, joined Thompson. The golfers signed promotional Cognizant Founders Cup flags.

The LPGA Tour also shared some of these moments and pointed out how all these women golfers went home with a lifetime of memories. The post was captioned, “Lexi Thompson and Grace Kim joined a few Special Olympics golfers on the course today and sent them off with their own flag pins ⛳️” Grace Kim shared the photos from the special evening, and expressed on her Instagram story, “It was truly impressive to see the ladies from @specialolympicsnj playing golf!! very inspirational.”

Special Olympics New Jersey is a non-profit organization. It aims to bring about a change in the lives of those who are often considered to have intellectual disabilities. Through sports and other health opportunities, this organization works towards improving their lives as much as possible. In the visuals from the meet and greet, Thompson was seen wearing a supportive band on her wrist.

It must be to help her cope with the pain she has been going through. Although, her repetitive injuries have not stopped her from working out, or finding out time for things that are important to her. This year, she focused on healing properly. “Even though I pushed through it this week, I’ve decided I need to figure out how to get back to my best self. To get my hand healthy and in a better state of mind. Time to do the work on myself,” said Thompson.

The LPGA pros truly impressed the fandom. Especially when they know that the golfers are in their stressful days just before the event commences.

Fans appreciated Lexi Thompson’s yet another philanthropic gesture
One of the fans stated how Thompson wins people’s hearts both through her extremely great golf wins on the green as well as her charity work that she does in her personal life. With 15 Professional Tour wins, 11 out of which are LPGA tours and 2 Ladies European Tour, Thompson truly justifies the winner tag. The fan commented, “Keep doing the great thing you do Lexi! You’re a champion on and off the course!”

Thompson not only helped women with breast cancer but has also raised $200,000 for charity with her zany eagle putt at the ninth edition of Capital One’s The Match before. Hence it makes sense why another fan called her, “Lexi doing as Lexi doesAlways willing to give of her time to help others! Magnificent role model!” Continuing the love the young star has for philanthropic actions, another fan commented, “Thank you Lexi for always having time with charities.”

Moreover, one of the girls from the Special Olympics, Lindsay Anne also commented on her post explaining how much she was grateful to meet her. She said, “It was a pleasure meeting you today Lexi! I hope you do well in your tournament and win ” Anne also wished Thompson good luck for her play and wished her to be victorious. This season, she has competed in 4 events and she happened to miss the cut in two of those. Her best performance so far has been T3 at Ford Championship, and the golfer and her fans are eagerly waiting to see her lift a trophy.

Yet another fan pointed out, “ Lexi Your an excellent ambassador of the game.” Thompson does not only talk about what goes on the greens but gives importance to other things too. From her fitness routine to staying at the top of her game to her honest experience and thoughts after winning or losing, she confesses everything. Her philanthropic and promotional work for women’s golf makes the fans feel that she is a true ambassador.
