Elvis Presley’s grandson Benjamin Keough shot himself at joint birthday party for his girlfriend and his sister Riley’s husband, as production coordinator says she now knows ‘the true meaning of grief’

Elvis Presley’s grandson Benjamin Keough shot himself at a party for his girlfriend and brother-in-law’s joint birthday, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal. Neighbors heard Keough partying at his mother Lisa Marie Presley’s $1.8 million Calabasas, California, home late on Saturday July 12 – his girlfriend Diana Pinto’s birthday – before hearing a woman believed to be Pinto screaming ‘don’t do it’ in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police arriving around 6am discovered Keough, 27, had locked himself in the bathroom and shot himself in the head with a shotgun.

The tragic news comes as Pinto posted a loving, heartbroken tribute to her late boyfriend of more than four years, on Instagram on Sunday.

Pinto wrote ‘I don’t know how I’m supposed to do this life without you’ and that she now knows ‘the true meaning of grief’.

One of her posts from July 12 two years ago reveals the bereaved girlfriend shares a birthday with Keough’s brother-in-law Ben Smith-Petersen, 29, the Australian stuntman husband of his pop singer sister Riley Keough.

The two couples celebrated the joint birthday together in 2018 with a holiday to Tulum, Mexico.

When Pinto, a 27-year-old post production coordinator at Fox, shared the picture, she couldn’t have known that exactly two years later Keough would have taken his own life, forever darkening the annual celebration.

Pinto shared a deeply emotional tribute to her late boyfriend on Sunday, who she described as ‘the most beautiful boy I have ever seen’.

‘You make everyone around you light up the second you step into the room. You touch every single soul around you. You love your Sunday morning toons and chocolate milk. I promise to always honor you on Fancy Fridays,’ she wrote.

‘Your laugh is heard all over the world now. You made me the luckiest girl in the world, to have you, to hold you, to love you and to be loved by you are the only things that have ever mattered. You are my whole world and my whole life, you live with me now every day in my heart, in my soul and in my mind. My travel partner. My best friend.

‘I will cherish all the memories we’ve made together and keep them close to my heart. I feel your silliness within me still making me laugh. Every second of every day I think of you, now I know the true meaning of grief. Please give me strength to keep going because I don’t know how I’m supposed to do this life without you.

‘You will always be the love of my life, my everything. Big pies little pies, te amo mas que el sol y la luna mi amorsito [I love you more than the sun and the moon my little love]. Love forever, Honu.’

Pinto accompanied the tribute with 10 pictures of Keough and her hugging and kissing. In one romantic snap, Keough wrote ‘I love you Diana’ in the steamy condensation on a glass shower wall. In another, the couple sat and hugged in front of a waterfall.

A video Pinto posted on Instagram in May 2016 of the pair kissing suggests that they had been dating for at least four years.

The LA County Coroner’s office ruled Keough’s death a suicide last Tuesday after he was found dead in the family’s $1.8 million home.

DailyMail.com exclusively revealed Elvis’ only grandson had locked himself in a bathroom of the five bed, three-bathroom luxury property in the early hours of Sunday July 13, put a shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger.

When the 27-year-old’s body was discovered by someone in the house, who then called 911, responding LA County Sheriff’s Department deputies found Benjamin’s lifeless body slumped on the toilet, in a chilling echo of the death of his famous grandfather.

And in a shocking turn of events LA County Coroner’s office told DailyMail.com that an autopsy, which was completed on July 13, showed the cause of death as ‘Intraoral shotgun wound’ and not a gunshot wound to the chest as previously reported.

The location of his suicide is harrowingly similar to the famously indecorous death of Benjamin’s grandfather Elvis ‘The King’ Presley almost 43 years ago.

On the morning of August 16, 1977, Elvis’ then fiancée Ginger Alden found him next to the toilet in the master suite bathroom on the second floor of his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Until It’s Time for You to Go singer was unresponsive, lying face down in a pool of vomit, his trousers around his ankles. It’s widely understood Elvis, who at just 42 was a bloated, faded version of his former self, had a heart attack while sat on the toilet, most likely while straining too hard, before falling forward.
