Fans Savage Justin Thomas as His Viral Beer Chugging Skills Roil Social Media
Justin Thomas would like to take things easy, but fans don’t seem to let him be. After a few tumultuous rounds at Palm Harbor, the 15-time PGA Tour winner skipped traveling to the Lone Star State for the Texas Children’s Houston Open. Instead, the 30-year-old was in attendance at Madison Square Garden for an NHL game, where his beer-chugging skills came to the limelight.
But some fans would very much object to the word ‘skill’. For they believe Thomas was sloppy in it. In that, they also found a parallel to his recent on-course travails.
Justin Thomas touched down in New York.
Thomas’s face popped up on the Jumbotron at Madison Square Garden during the New York Rangers game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Like a jolly sport, the Jupiter resident chugged his beer with the crowd cheering in the background. To his fault, he spilled a little by the end, which, as far as downing a mug goes, is forgivable and oftentimes part of the fun. The video went viral thanks to Nuclr Golf which posted the clip on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Now, Thomas is a known Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Regardless, he didn’t want to leave the opportunity to catch an NHL game while he was in New York for the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Notably, Thomas also booked a front-row seat in the New York Knicks game against the Detroit Pistons.
While Thomas is enjoying his time off, perhaps, looking to start afresh at the Masters, fans were quick to remind him of the missed cuts at THE PLAYERS and the 64th-place finish at the Valspar Championship. Moreover, the two-time Major winner has been in the crosshairs of fans lately for his blunt comments about LIV golfers. Like his previous remarks, his beer-chugging skills didn’t find a fanbase either.
Netizens bust JT’s ‘cool dude’ image
The Valspar Championship was a wild ride for the 30-year-old, which prompted one fan to comment that his beer chugging is as messy as his game. Justin Thomas was tied for the sixth spot in the second round but shot 79 on Saturday, followed by 71 in the final round to tie for the 64th spot. Another fan quipped, that his drinking skill, “doesn’t make the cut.” While a section of fans were harsher. They claimed Justin Thomas is truly “one of us,” because he is at best an “average golfer.”
He chugs beer like hes been playing golf, not so good and messy…

Some of the users feel this is just a PR move to save face and commented, “Speak for yourself. He’s one of the least likeable people in golf… hence the PR blitz to resuscitate his toxic persona.” Thomas has faced the wrath of the internet after he roasted Mito Pereira in last year’s Champion’s dinner at the PGA Championship. After that went viral thanks to the Netflix docu-series Full Swing, Thomas also took a brutal dig at Talor Gooch, claiming if he wins THE PLAYERS, it won’t carry an asterisk. Thomas went on to miss the cut and was at the butt end of ridicule even from Gooch’s team, Smash GC.
However, the PGA Tour pro would find solace in knowing that at least some fans stood by him. While they also downgraded his beer-chugging skills, they felt the attempt made him an “acceptable ‘dude’.” Some also wanted to ‘teach’ him beer-chugging if he was willing to impart some golf skills and stated, “This is a 4 at best @JustinThomas34. I’d like to offer a proposal though, I can help with the chugging technique if you can help with some golf tips. Roll Tide Gig Em.”
Weak.
But it’s the effort that makes him great and acceptable “dude”— Billy Blevins (@BillBlevDevoe) March 27, 2024
So far, Justin Thomas hasn’t confirmed his presence at the Valero Texas Open, the last PGA Tour event before this year’s first Major. Which makes the Masters the only chance to answer the critics.
