Jordan Spieth Reveals the Downside of His ‘PGA Tour Policy Board Job’ in 8-Word Statement
T3 at the Sentry, Jordan Spieth’s start for the 2024 season was strong. Lately, however, the 3-time major winner has struggled to score great on the leaderboard. Spieth recently missed the cut at THE 50th PLAYERS Championship and has now started playing at the Valspar Championship to keep his game going.
While being a pro golfer takes the better of his time, Spieth has to divide it further as he is also a PGA Tour policy board member and a family man. The 30-year-old revealed how he balances things and shed some light on the downside of being a PGA Tour policy board member.
Jordan Spieth was T28 after he scored six birdies and four bogeys in round one at the Valspar Championship. He was 2 under 69 as he later engaged in a short post-round interview. Spieth was asked how he has been handling everything in life as a PGA Tour policy board member with a bustling career and a family.
Spieth replied, “I think I’ve done a pretty good job in balancing everything,” but he revealed, “It doesn’t mean that anything’s getting full attention.” Though it has not been an ideal situation, the 30-year-old accepted that everything was okay because “it’s just a blip in time.” Furthermore, Spieth was content about the future.
Despite the hurdles now, he assured, “Everything that I think I’m doing, I think, is doing the right thing. So I’m ready to come out the other side and take care of that and we’ll get there.” Things have been hectic for the PGA Tour board members as the new PGA Tour Enterprise came into existence and the merger with PIF has taken a new step as they met with Yasir Al-Rumayyan for the future of golf.

The golf world has been taking a turn for the better but that just means things are getting busier for Spieth. Juggling between being a parent, player director, and a pro golfer has been difficult, but Spieth was confident that this shall too pass. Amidst vague plans to counter his busy schedule, the 30-year-old revealed his plans to not miss the cut at the Valspar Championship.

In the last three runs, Jordan Spieth has played only one full event. Before finishing T30 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the 15-time PGA tour was disqualified from the Genesis Invitational on account of recording a wrong score on the scorecard, Then at the PLAYERS Championship, Spieth missed the cut by three strokes.
But at the Valspar Championship, Spieth will not be taking any risks. He has drawn a simple plan to follow and to last till the end. He said that he would “continue to shoot under par each round because if you do, you normally have a chance on Sunday at this course.” At 2 under 69 after round one, will Spieth’s plan give him the result he has expected? The result will not be certain until the final round on March 24th.
