“Former Serena Williams Coach Rick Macci Declares Steffi Graf as ‘The Best of Her Generation'”

Famous tennis coach Rick Macci believes that the former world number one Germany’s Steffi Graf was the ‘best of her generation’. The 54-year-old is often regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of women’s tennis in the singles category in the Open era, having won 22 Grand Slam titles in her illustrious career.

Macci, who worked as a coach with the former world number one Serena Williams, in a post on his official account on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — heaped praise on Graf, who according to him was the ‘greatest of her generation’.

“The best WTA player of all time who got control of the point the fastest was by far STEFFI GRAF. Her inside out forehand with Extra pepper and her Skidding Low crosscourt slice set the Stage to turn the Page was a deadly Combination the best of her Generation,” he wrote.

Graff retired from professional tennis back in 1999. Her most successful competition was Wimbledon where she lifted the title seven times — 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995 and 1996.

She won her first major title in 1988 when she lifted the Australian Open after beating Chris Evert with a score of 6-1, 7-6. Her last Grand Slam title was the French Open in 1999 when she defeated Martina Hingis in the final with a score of 4–6, 7–5, 6–2.
